Sony WH-1000XM2 Review

Advantage: The Sony WH-1000XM2 review says that this headphone is excellent-sounding, is a very comfortable wireless headphone with effective noise cancelling that measures up to Bose’s for muffling ambient noise. The battery life is great and it has some extra features geared toward frequent travelers.

Drawback: The Battery is not replaceable, it should perform a bit better as a headset.

Conclusion: This version may not be quite as comfortable as Bose’s QuietComfort 35 II, but in some respects, it’s a superior headphone. It has a lot of features which makes it different from the other headphones. Check out the review and buy now!

The Sony WH-1000XM2 release date was in August 2017 and remains one of our best and top picks for wireless noise-cancelling headphones.

Sometimes you can get these headphones even under $300. While the Bose QuietComfort 35 II headphone is lighter and more comfortable to wear, the Sony WH-1000XM2 sounds a tad better and also offers more features.

Sony’s MDR-1000X, the first version of this series was one of our favorite noise-cancelling wireless headphones of 2016. This is the new enhanced version, the WH-1000XM2 price was under $350. You can buy it from Amazon and Best Buy also. It looks very similar to the original and also comes in black & Gold color, but the finish is different and Sony reduced the number of buttons to help simplify things and make it very clear.

When we first published this review, the Sony was $50 cheaper, but currently, they’re both about $350. But if they are both of the same prices when you are making your decision, it is better to try each one for yourself.

The excellent noise cancelling feature is upgraded with atmospheric pressure optimizing, ambient sound control, and also an equalizer and surround and sound position control.

The atmospheric pressure optimizer, which is for plane use, is also currently unique to this headphone. Sony’s Headphones Connect app allows you to tweak all these new trending features. These added features are to help you better tailor the sound to your environment.

Sony WH-1000XM2 Battery Replacement

The battery life of this Sony WH-1000XM2 Bluetooth headphone has improved a lot. But, the battery is not user-replaceable.

It is up to 30 hours with wireless and noise-canceling on or up to 40 hours if you use a wired cable connection. If you play your music on high volumes, you will not be able to hit those numbers. The headphone charges via standard Micro-USB. There is also a Quick Charge feature that gives you up to 70 minutes of battery life from 10 minutes of charging.

Once you finish talking to someone on the phone, you can remove your hand, and then the music resumes playing at its previous volume, and the noise cancellation kicks back in. This is one of the best Sony WH-1000XM2 Specs.

Sound Differences Between WH 1000XM2 vs Bose

Sony WH-1000XM2 review says that it delivers better sound than the Bose.

It also has a little more clarity than both the QC35 II and the Beats Studio3 Wireless

With the earlier MDR-1000X, it is a little bit of weirdness with the adaptive nature of the noise canceling. But everything works smoothly with this new model. It did a great job muffling sound on the streets of New York, in the subway, and in all the open offices, where voices can get pretty loud.

The thing about audio is that everybody’s ears and music tastes are very different, so not everybody is going to have the same reaction or preference. The Bowers & Wilkins PX is also an excellent sounding headphone in this category, but it is a little more expensive and some people may find it less comfortable, with noise-canceling that’s not as strong.

In the Beats Studio 3 Wireless headphone, it has a little bit more of a laid-back, and also warmer quality. Overall, though, Sony does prove itself well with a wide range of material, with great and punchy bass, good detail, and natural-sounding, a present midrange that isn’t too forward. This is a headphone you can listen to for long periods of time.

The character of the noise cancelling is not the same as Bose’s. The Bose seems a little more geared toward reducing the din of noise while you’re flying while the Sony reduced the noise over a broader range of frequencies. They are both excellent at muffling noise.
