Namecheap Hosting Review 2021 – Pros in Detail
1. Free Domain And Migration
Namecheap is doing its best in the domain names. You can get a free domain name registration if you get a plan from Namecheap. Even if you already have a website, they also help you in migrating your site from the other web hosting provider for free.
2. Decent Load Time
Having a good load time is an important factor next to uptime. This speed is a crucial factor that is directly connected with your traffic.
As per the recent Google report, they found that the bouncing can increase over 100% on the six seconds page loading time.
If you want to keep your site alive you have to get a good loading speed. Your site will go down if the site loading time is too bad and eventually it affects the site’s traffic.
As per our Namecheap hosting review, it can post an average page speed of 687ms on our past 24 months test. The interesting fact is that this number is two times larger than other popular hosts like BigRock and HostGator Cloud.
Namecheap Average Speed
3. 30-day Money-Back Guarantee
As like other popular web-hosting providers, Namecheap also provides a 30-day money-back guarantee with all their plans. You can get a generous time of 30 days to check their service for your website. If you aren’t satisfied with their service, you can try anotherhosting.
4. Fully-Loaded Value Plan
We always set a trial page while testing any hosting provider with a basic plan. This is because we want real data and performance figures for our review. It is worth mentioning that all the basic plans are somewhat similar in popular web hosting services.
This allows us to compare the features on each web hosting provider.
However, Namecheap has something different than a normal web hosting company.
The first thing they provide is unmetered bandwidth on the basic plan and access to some features like cPanel access and apps like WordPress.
In addition to these things, you will get a free SSL certificate for the first year even in the basic plan.
The basic plan includes twice-a-week backups and updating your websites. You will also get a 50 MySQL database. Interestingly you can set up up to three websites on a basic plan. When comparing this feature with other web hosting services, they offer only one website hosting. This is an ideal feature if you have multiple websites.
You will also get about 50 email addresses too. While other web hosting services cost huge for these features. Namecheap offers these features even in basic plans.
5. Third-Party Reviews Are Excellent & Poor
Though we had a good experience with them, we also did deep research on other customer reviews. That’s too positive a response. Even they had about 4.7-star ratings on Shopper Reviews.
Amazingly, they are providing many extra features along with the basic plan. So we have tested a trial website and from the uptime but the fact is they are not very good.
Namecheap Hosting Review Cons in detail
In general, we would consider three main things on a new web host.
- Uptime: A crucial factor in keeping your website live on Google.
- Speed: A good loading time is needed for gaining good traffic.
- Support: Will they give proper support for the customers?
What about the Namecheap? Though they provide many features, they fail in these three categories. Have a look below.
1. Average Uptime – 99.93%
We have experienced a good 100% uptime in some months of the year. Then it started fading. Then a few months it has the uptime below the industry average of 99.93% and only about 99.89% at last.
Though it is not a bad thing, you have to remember this equates to over a half-hour of downtime each month. If you face this downtime on a huge sales season, You’re potentially looking at tons of lost revenue.
Look at the comparison of uptime over 12 months.
Last 12-month average uptime:
- January 2021 average uptime: 100%
- December 2020 average uptime: 100%
- November 2020 average uptime: 99.89%
- October 2020 average uptime: 100%
- September 2020 average uptime: 99.93%
- August 2020 average uptime: 99.99%
- July 2020 average uptime: 99.99%
- June 2020 average uptime: 99.99%
- May 2020 average uptime: 99.98%
- April 2020 average uptime: 100%
- March 2020 average uptime: 99.99%
- February 2020 average uptime: 99.99%
2. Customer Support
Namecheap offers a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) platform to solve your queries so that would probably have answers for every issue.
We tried the live chat support, it gets connected to a support agent. It went smoothly and at one stage, she can’t handle us so she transferred us to the ‘Concierge’ department.
However, we like this new concept of ‘Concierge’ department at a company. That ‘Concierge’ rep support is like a knowledge-based article. This is not a fair option. They will explain the process but they won’t do it for you and next, they are giving a link for support and asking it to do ourselves.
And to be honest, from our Namecheap review, their overall customer service is not good. Even if you are facing any issues with your site, going for customer service will ruin your day.

Do We Recommend Namecheap?
Based on our Namecheap hosting review 2021, we won’t recommend them. But if you want cheap hosting then you can try for 1 year.
Though the starting is well, renewal rates will rise over 200%. In addition to their love uptime and poor customer support.
You can try out many other popular hosting company available at the best price.
- GreenGeeks: GreenGeeks is a good alternative to Namecheap with almost similar prices and amazing customer support. I’ve written a more in-depth write-up on GreenGeeks review here.
