JBL Live 650BTNC Review

Advantages: As per JBL Live 650BTNC Review, it has amazing sound quality and a comfortable fit at a much lesser price than the premium competitor headphones. It has a voice assistant and you can access it with a button press, it supports Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa. It has a well-built strong design and folds up to fit in the canvas carrying case.

Drawback: The Noise Cancellation performance is not outstanding as Sony or Bose.

Conclusion: Although the noise cancellation and comfort level are not as impressive as Bose or Sony competitor models, it sounds great and worth buying if you don’t want to spend that huge ($300) amount or more on noise-cancelling headphones.

JBL Live 650BTNC Wireless Over-Ear Headphones

When we think wireless Active Noise Cancelling headphones, everyone knows Bose and Sony are the best headphones for this feature and they lead this category with the QuietComfort 35 II and the WH-1000XM3. These headphones are the best wireless noise-cancelling headphones available in the market, but the only issue is that they are very expensive and cost around $350.

These are too expensive and not affordable for a few and also many people don’t like to spend that heavy amount on headphones. So, if you are also one of these then you are at the right place. Today we are reviewing the noise-canceling headphones at half price value than the premium ones.

JBL has some great wireless noise cancelling headphones launched over the years. The best of this range was Everest Elite 750NC which was launched back in 2017. But that was a bit pricey like Sony’s or Bose’s premium headphones at $300 and more.

JBL has launched its new flagship “Live Series” for wireless noise-canceling headphones, the Live 650BTNC at the price value of $200. Although, it is not as wonderful as Everest Elite 650BTNC but surely the better sounding wireless headphone.

The Sony and Bose noise-canceling headphones have a bit simple and plain design and don’t look much attractive. The JBL Live 650BTNC has a mature yet stylish design which gives it a fashionable look. These are available in three color variations: Black with the copper touch, all white, and Blue and silver combo. All the color combinations look magnificent and eye-catching.

The exterior look is a bit plasticky but it is made of good material and feels solid and lavish. It weighs 263 grams (9.28 ounces), the metallic hinge is well-built and works well over time. The headphones fold flat to fit into the canvas carrying case which comes included with the package.

These are not as comfortable as Bose QuietComfort 35 II and Sony WH-1000XM3, but provide decent comfort with a well-padded headband and thick memory foam ear pads. This is an over ear headphones and fits most of the heads. But it may rest on the top of extra-large ears because the opening on the earpads is not much bigger.

How does Voice Command work in JBL Live 650BTC?

JBL Live 650BTNC review shows it has Bluetooth 4.2 connection and multipoint connectivity which supports connection to a number of devices. You can modify the connection through the JBL Headphone App for Android or iOS. The headphone works great with the voice assistant of your phone (Siri, Google Now, Bixby). You can also choose between Amazon Alexa or Google assistant in the JBL app and set it up.

After setting up the voice command, you can do a tap-and-hold gesture on the center of the left earcup to give a voice command. When you release your finger, the voice assistant of your phone will respond to your command through the smartphone. Live 650BTNC has touch sensitive sensors on the earcups.

You can also modify the sound in the JBL App, you can create your own custom setting or choose from the already present EQs Jazz, Vocal, or Bass.

The Live 650BTNC has pretty the same sound quality as the Sony WH-1000XM3. The bass is well defined, sound clarity is decent for a noise cancellation headphone, and the sound is quite open for a closed-back headphone. You can turn off noise cancellation by pressing a button on the right ear cup or from the JBL headphone app.

Wireless Headphone for making Calls

Live 650BTNC performs amazingly as a wireless headphone for making calls, which was not expected. Although, it doesn’t have a Sidetone feature to make you hear your own voice in the headphone so you don’t speak too loudly. There is no Ambient aware mode to shut down the surrounding noises while you’re on a call.

You can’t wear it for long hours in summers or outside on a hot day, due to its on-ear design it gets a little warm-up and then you have to remove it for some time. These are not the best choice if you’re looking for outstanding noise cancellations.

Decent Battery Life

The battery life is great at 20 hours of playtime with noise cancellation on. The quick charging feature provides 2 hours of playtime from 15 minutes of charging. The headphones come with a micro USB cable for charging.

Battery life is evaluated at 20 hours with active noise cancellation and remotely enabled and we had no issues arriving at that number at medium volume. Better, we frequently observed an hour or two more on the off chance that we kept the volume low and had the earphones idle.

On the off chance that you use the JBL Live 650BTNC with active noise cancellation enabled in wired mode, you can get upwards of 30 hours on a solitary charge – all that anyone could need for an excursion abroad.

The biggest advantage of JBL Live 650BTNC is its superior sound, strongly built quality, and better price value than the competing premium noise cancelling headphones. Although the noise cancellation and comfort level are not as impressive as Bose or Sony competitor models, it sounds great and worth buying if you don’t want to spend that huge ($300) amount or more.

JBL Live 650BTNC vs Audio Technica ATH-M50x

Few people may like Audio Technica ATH-M50x over JBL Live 650BTNC who like their music experience in a certain way, although the choice is subjective. Technica M50x has a more neutral studio-monitor sound but seems they lacked a little pizazz, especially in the bass department. JBL Live 650BTNC is surely a more interesting headphone than Audio Technica.
