JBL Charge 4 vs Charge 3: Design

JBL products are well built, which is indeed true for Charge 3 and 4. They both have the same fabric and rubber padding, which effectively insulates the speaker. Both speakers also are waterproof. But the Charge 4 is not any more waterproof than the Charge 3. The Charge 3 comes with a micro-USB for USB connection. But the Charge 4 has a USB-C to USB. And usually, USB-C is taken into account to be the sturdier thanks to going. Charge 4 is a bit larger and heavier than the Charge 3.

Both speakers accompany charging cables. But the Charge 3 also has a 5V USB adapter. For Charge 4, you’ll need to use the adapter from your smartphone or tablet. Also, Charge 4 has a universal USB-C connection, while the Charge 3 is stuck within the micro-USB age. The great thing about USB-C is that you simply can plug it in any which way.

JBL Charge 4 vs Charge 3: Sound Quality

Anyone who knows JBL will tell you that the sound is typically on the easier side. Taking note of both speakers, I actually expected them to be a touch stubbier. But it wasn’t over the highest. In terms of volume, I almost maxed out both of them, and they reached the same volume. Based on the bit larger size of Charge 4, my idea is that it can pump up to a rather higher volume.

However, there’s a very big difference within the amount of clarity that the JBL Charge 4 offers. In fact, Charge 3 sounded really cloudy as compared. And for that reason alone, I’d choose the Charge 4.

Conclusion

As per the review, the 2 major differences between JBL Charge 3 and Charge 4 are the level of clarity and USB connection. This is often the 2 great reasons to upgrade to Charge 4. The JBL Charge 3, and Charge 4 has a lot to offer. If you’re simply looking for the best wireless speaker to get, then Charge 4 is clearly the better option to buy but the trade-off is that it’s not as portable. Also, you could go for the bit older Charge 3, which won’t get quite as loud as the newer Charge 4 and has a slightly older-looking design.
