Bose also takes pride in making lightweight headphones. Although some models may look too bulky, they aren’t. The QC35 weighs in at 8.3oz (236g) while the famous SoundLink wireless headphones ii weighs in at 7oz (200g).

While the SoundLink Wireless Headphones II do not look particularly sturdy, Bose says that the model was to survive drops, bumps, and grabs. The company used impact-resistant materials, including a full glass-filled nylon and corrosion-resistant stainless steel.

Also, both the models ear pads come with memory-foam that lets you feel utmost comfort while you enjoy your favorite jam for long hours.

Bose Soundlink Around-Ear Wireless Headphones ii release date is 15th September 2015.

Bose Soundlink Around-Ear Wireless Headphones ii vs Beats Headphones

The Bose earphones have a regular cable, which will get tangled if you throw them in your bag. Because of that, the winner here is the Beats earphones.

The Bose SoundLink earphones come in 2 different versions. One is compatible with Android devices, and also the other one is compatible with Apple devices. If you have a MacBook and an Android phone, you will have to buy both versions of the earphones, which is not economic.

In that case, you should go to the Beats. They are compatible across all kinds of devices (that have a 3.5mm audio jack), which makes them much more practical. And you will get better value for money.

Design

The SoundLink AE II design follows the typical Bose motif—matte surfaces, with no real flourishes, and the Bose logo emblazoned on each ear cup. As always, Bose’s understated design is also less about looks and more about function—the headphones are comfortable, with plush leather earpads and a padded foam underside to the headband. Part of what makes the pair so comfortable is its light-as-a-feather feel, and also somehow the lightweight earcups manage to block out a substantial amount of room noise.

The cloth grilles inside each ear cup have ‘L’ and ‘R’ sewn into them in large, hard-to-miss lettering, ending the often annoying search for the tiny marks directing you to the left and right cups. Also the headband is adjustable to ensure a perfect fit, and the pair folds down flat for easy stowing—it ships with a very thin, zip-up case. The headphones are available in black or white color. Along with the headphones you also get a protective carrying case to keep your headphones safe.

How do you Connect Bose SoundLink Around-Ear Wireless Headphones?

Bose has gone a long way toward making this SoundLink Around-Ear Wireless Headphone II and also the voice prompt that provides battery life and pairing status on turning the headphones on is a great example of that. Whether or not you use the built-in NFC functionality, pairing and also re-pairing the headphones is an easy process, even compared to how simple many headphones make it these days.

These soundlink headphones can be connected to two devices at the same time, allowing you to switch between them with ease. Bose’s example is also watching a video on an iPad while also connected to an iPhone. If a call comes in, it can also switch – pausing the video in the progress – take the call, and also resume video playback when the call ends.

Battery Life

Bose brand claims an impressive 15 hours of playback time, and during our testing we found this to be right on the mark. Charge time is as three hours, though this will depend on the charger you use since none is – just the USB cable. Bose says that also a quick charge time of 15 minutes will provide up to two hours of battery, which is handy.

If you do find yourself running out of battery life in any case, make sure to keep the included audio cable with you. Unlike a lot of Bluetooth headphones, these will also work in passive mode, meaning plugged in. The volume will be lower and the headphones won’t sound the same, which is why Bose refers to this as a “backup” audio cable.

How is Bose Soundlink Around-Ear Wireless Headphones ii Noise Canceling?

You are not going to find any Active Noise Cancellation here. For that you will need to look to the $400 QC25 to get that from Bose but the passive isolation is quite effective. With music playing, even at lower volumes, you are going to struggle to hear anything going on around you. The same cannot be for others hearing what you’re listening to however: these do leak a decent amount of sound.

Also, part of what makes the pair so comfortable is its light-as-a-feather feel, and also somehow the lightweight earcups manage to block out a substantial amount of room noise.

How is their Performance Overall?

It is not easy to declare the best-sounding wireless headphones because everybody’s ears and audio tastes are different, but this is one the best sounding Bluetooth headphones currently available, though it isn’t for everybody.

The sound is very clean and well balanced with ample but not overpowering bass. You are not going to get that little bit of extra crispness, sparkle, and depth that you get from a good pair of wired headphones, but also Bose tends to focus on delivering smooth, pleasant sound and these fit that profile.

Like with all Bluetooth headphones, there is some digital processing going on, and also Bose has equipped the headphone with Active EQ and volume-optimized EQ. Volume-optimized EQ is to make your music sound better at lower volumes. Often, when you lower the volume, you lose the strong bass, and Bose’s digital processing makes things sound fuller and more detailed at lower volumes.

Bose brand has done a good job mixing a sleek, comfortable design with strong performance, which makes for an appealing product. And while the SoundLink Around-Ear Wireless Headphone II may not be the Bose active noise-canceling wireless headphone that most of the people are waiting for, you do get a decent amount of passive noise-isolation from the around-the-ear design.
